This portfolio is designed to aid myself and other teachers in using technology effectively in the classroom.
The tools are arranged in an easy to use design and each tool will have feedback on how I would use the tool and what my initial feelings toward the tool are. I am not a teacher yet I still have a couple of more years in college. While my class and I brainstorm and discuss ways these tools and websites could be used in a classroom I have not seen or used most of them myself.
The course is designed to give us many different tools that can be used. Some I will use and have great success with but others I may never try. What I find useful and what others find useful may be different so my goal with this site is to simply share all the tools that I am shown so that when the time comes I have as many options as possible. The uses that I come up with may not be all the ways in which a tool could be used. Also my reflections may change overtime and are probably very different from my classmates.
The one thing that I know for sure is that technology will be used in the classroom and is being integrated at a fast pace. As a future teacher I want to be as prepared as I can be because ready-or-not I will be expected to use technology in my classroom.

My Story
I grew up and still live in Billings Montana. I am part of a large family that enjoys the outdoors. My siblings and I were all home-schooled all the way through high school and now we are all in college. I think my parents would agree that it is harder to have six kids in college at once than it is to home-school. I am currently a junior at MSU Billings and majoring in elementary education. I did not always want to be a teacher in fact I did not want to go to college either. I did not go to college right out of high school instead I started to travel as part of mission teams. I have visited Costa Rica, Turkey, Greece, Georgia (the country not the state), and Mozambique. Everywhere I went I met amazing children who had such great ambitions. It was while I was in Mozambique teaching 8-10 year olds how to write their names for the first time that I realized I wanted to be a teacher. I did not understand the value of an education until I saw how hard some children worked to learn. I enjoy working with children and want to make a difference in their lives. I do not know where I will be teaching but I hope to be able to teach overseas.
Below on the left is a word cloud I created with words that describe who I am, on the right is a picture of me and my siblings enjoying a rare day together over the holidays. I have chosen a picture that allows us to retain some privacy in a time when some are sharing all on the internet. I have also chosen not to share my full name or any contact information. Remember to stay safe and to protect your students when using the internet.

When I think of myself as a learner I see myself happily surrounded by books. I love to read and to learn through books. I look forward to sharing my passion for reading with my students. Life long readers are often life long learners.
